Hi, I’m Becky. I live on the edge of Greater London in Surrey, UK, with my husband, our four year old daughter and baby son.
When my daughter’s 1st birthday was approaching in August 2013 I decided to make her a cake. I wanted it to look nice (& taste nice!) but had never decorated a cake before, so started scouring the internet for advice, inspiration and ideas. I discovered the Craftsy website that has video classes. Jessica Harris’s Clean and Simple Cake Design class was invaluable in helping me with everything I needed to know to fill, crumb coat and stack the three tiered cake I’d decided to make. And from that point on I was hooked!
I don’t have a business, I just bake for fun at the moment. I’m still very new to cake decorating so have a LOT to learn and experiment with still, but I use any excuse I can to practise now! I’m trying to learn and improve as much as I can so I can make cakes for family and friends that hopefully they will enjoy!
I called this blog ‘Little Hill Cakes’ as I started this for my daughter (and any other children we are blessed with), and as our surname is Hill, they are our ‘Little Hills’ 🙂
I’ve got a Little Hill Cakes page on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/littlehillcakes and Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/littlehillcakes (@littlehillcakes) where I put updates and in progress photos.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my blog 🙂
